Kevin A. Mahan is the founder and principal advisor of Sentinel Strategies, an advisory and consulting firm guiding hospitals, schools, corporations, and government agencies through complex security, policy, and leadership challenges. With deep experience in law enforcement, legislation, and executive oversight, Kevin has built police departments from the ground up, authored landmark public safety laws, and led reform efforts across both public and private sectors.

Most recently, Kevin served as Vice President of Safety and Security for a large hospital network in Indiana, where he successfully created a hospital-based police department from scratch—an initiative that blended sworn authority with healthcare culture and compliance. His work continues to shape how institutions integrate law enforcement into sensitive environments. This included navigating complex security challenges including weapons detection implementation, crisis readiness, and public sector compliance.

A former Indiana State Representative, Governor-appointed founding Superintendent of the Indiana Gaming Commission, and Sheriff, Kevin brings a rare blend of operational insight and legislative acumen to every engagement. His work is rooted in clarity, conviction, and a deep commitment to helping institutions navigate change with integrity.

Beyond his professional life, Kevin is a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Tonia, celebrating a marriage marked by faith, resilience, and enduring love. Together, they’ve raised three sons: Andrew, Chase, and Keaton. Kevin and Tonia are proud grandparents to Bennett, Noah, and Channing.
